MISSION

At the Campion Dance Society, our mission is to unearth and nurture the talent and passion of young student dancers, offering transformative artistic experiences to audiences both locally and internationally. Rooted in discipline, creativity, and excellence, we strive to reimagine high school dance by pushing artistic boundaries and cultivating a dynamic space for self-expression.
Through top-tier training in technique and performance, we empower our members to grow not only as dancers but as individuals—fostering confidence, resilience, and lifelong friendships. Our Society serves as a vibrant platform for exposure, bridging the gap between student performances and opportunities with professional dance companies and colleges. In doing so, we honor and sustain the rich legacy of dance in Jamaica, inspiring the next generation to move with purpose, passion, and pride.
who we are
Campion College, recognized as Jamaica’s top academic high school and one of the leading institutions in the Caribbean, is also home to a trailblazing dance program that has reshaped the high school performing arts landscape in the Caribbean region.
Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director Dwright Wright, the Campion Dance Society has grown into one of the Caribbean’s premier high school dance ensembles. With a clear vision and professional structure, the group quickly distinguished itself bringing together discipline, creativity, and technical mastery rarely seen at the high school level.

Though dance is not formally included in the academic curriculum, Campion College—with the unwavering support of former Principal Mrs. Grace Baston—has championed the arts as a vital component of student life. This commitment has allowed the Dance Society to thrive, achieving over 70 national gold medals in the annual Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Festival of the Arts .
A New Era:
Beyond Competition
In 2017, the group made a pivotal shift—moving away from competition and toward performance. This strategic transition allowed us to concentrate more deeply on technique and stagecraft, cultivating our members’ artistic expression. It also granted our choreographers greater freedom to explore and express their creativity through bold, thought-provoking works.
As a result, the group evolved into a repertoire dance group, with each generation of Campion dancers learning and performing a growing collection of iconic works. This transformation has established us as the leading feeder group for Jamaica’s internationally renowned National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC).
To date, over 20 alumni have joined the NDTC, with others making their mark in companies such as L’Acadco: A United Caribbean Dance Force, The Company Dance Theatre (CDT), Stella Maris Dance Ensemble, and Movements Dance Company.
